Philadelphia Public Pools: John B. Kelly Pool

Today was the first time I have ever been to a Philadelphia public pool. Kelly pool is an olympic sized pool and very clean. Lap swimming is available all day as the pool sets aside three lanes exclusively for lap swimming. When I went today there were only a total of about 8 people amongst the six lanes. The pool is kept extremely clean as I only noticed one leaf the whole time I was swimming in the pool. The best part of this is that the pool is free. That’s right, no entrance fee. It’s only about 15 minutes from center city. So I would consider this spot a little gem in the city.

Bring a chair and/or towel to lay out on after your workout. Another great thing about this place is yes, there are a bunch of people in the shallow area but the grounds around it are not full at all. So you will get a quiet and clean place to relax after your swim. If you don't want to get caught in the masses in the shallow end there is a whole area in the deep end that rarely has anyone in it. I strongly encourage you to check out this pool as it is a nice break from the summer heat in the city! Oh and another awesome part about Kelly pool is that it's free.

Things you need to remember for the pool:

-A Bathing suit- At public pools you are required to wear a swimsuit! No shorts, no t-shirt in the pool

-Sunscreen

-A hat to cover your face

-A Water Bottle and Snack

- A Friend

-Towel

Enjoy the public pools! They are well taken care of!

Keep Calm and Swim On
